During the Christmas Vigil Mass at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus, Archbishop Alick Banda delivered a powerful message of hope, reminding the faithful to trust in God even in the face of life’s challenges.

The Archbishop highlighted the true meaning of Christmas as a divine encounter with God, who brings hope, peace, and salvation.

“Christmas speaks loud and clear,” he said. “God has not abandoned nor forsaken us. Jesus’ birth in the manger shows that God’s glory is not found in wealth, pomp, or the clamor of the world, but among His people—the poor, the lowly, and the suffering.”

He added that the birth of Jesus is a testament to God’s unwavering faithfulness.

“In the child wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger lies the fulfilment of every promise of hope.”

Reflecting on the example of St. Joseph, Archbishop Banda urged the congregation to trust in God, especially during difficult times.

“Joseph’s example invites us to rely on God when life feels overwhelming when we face rising costs of living, unemployment, and the struggle to provide for our families,” he said.
