ZAMBIA: Monze Diocese Revitalizes Small Christian Communities For Jubilee Year 2025

The Diocese of Monze in Zambia has unveiled a vision to transform Small Christian Communities (SCCs) into effective instruments of evangelization in preparation for the Jubilee Year 2025.
Inspired by the theme “Pilgrims of Hope in Communion, Participation, and Mission” from Romans 5:5, the Diocese aims to instill resilience and Christian hope in every parish.
In his presentation to the diocese, Fr. Cletus Mwiila reflected on pastoral challenges and the need to strengthen SCCs as places of hope, communion, family support, and Catechesis.
“The initiative seeks to renew faith and inspire growth, even in challenging times,” he said.
Fr. Mwiila noted that the Jubilee Year which begins on December 24, 2024, and ends on January 6, 2026, is a time for the global Church to rekindle hope amid challenges such as the effects of COVID-19, climate change, and conflict.
“Pope Francis encourages Catholics to walk as “pilgrims of hope,” rediscovering their vocation and uniting in love and service” he added.
The Diocese of Monze is embracing the call by fostering inclusive participation, nurturing diverse spiritual gifts, and promoting healing and reconciliation within SCCs. Through this effort, the faithful are invited to transform challenges into opportunities, living out the spirit of hope and mission in their daily lives.
