The Bishop of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale has urged Catholic legislators to invest in spiritual nourishment and cement their ways with the Creator as they do plans for the country.
Presiding over Mass and lighting of the Christmas tree for the Catholic parliamentarian at the Parliament Catholic Chaplaincy on Thursday 12th Dec 2024, Bishop Kibira asked the legislators to collaborate with the clergy in reminding the Lay Faithful on their role in Church and popularizing plans for social transformation.
Bishop Kibira also urged Parliamentarians encouraged couples to open joint fixed Deposit accounts to generate profit for their families, noting that the Bank of Uganda has unaccounted for money after men have passed on without notifying their spouses. He added that transparency, accountability, and trust should be the main focus for every married couple if they are to have successful families.
Whereas the Catholic Church was not directly involved in the politics of Uganda, the Ordinary of Kasese later said, “It’s her role to awaken the consciousness of the citizens and mainly the Members of Parliament whose legislative role should protect the Church and God’s people.
Hon. Col. Tom Butime, the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, commended the Bishop for the inspirational Homily, asking the Members of Parliament to help the Church and government in interpreting certain spiritual and developmental messages to the Lay faithful.
