Rt. Rev. Vincent Frederick Mwakhwawa has emphasized the Church’s ongoing dedication to providing its students with a well-rounded education in its educational establishments.
Mwakhwawa, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe said this at St. Paul’s-Mlale Minor Seminary in Lilongwe on Saturday, December 7, 2024, when he presided over the formal welcoming ceremony of the Form One students.
He stated that the Church is committed to continuing to develop future leaders who will contribute to changing both the Church and society.
“We face a problem today in that some adults and educated persons lack human principles. Their contributions to the development of society and Church are insignificant. We do not desire that,” the Prelate said in an interview on the sidelines of the ceremony.
To foster a sense of dedication to the Church, Jesus and friends, the Auxiliary Bishop also urged the new students to put in a lot of effort in their manual labor at the institution.
“We need young people who, when they become priests, should be committed to the work of the church, work of God, and work hard to improve the country. This should begin here in the seminary,” concluded.
The new students were challenged by the institution’s Rector, Reverend Father Benedict Kamdabweni, to follow the advice of the Bishop, which includes maintaining excellent behavior, in order to prevent expulsion until their goals are realized.
The seminary’s Dean of Students, Lawrence Patukani, expressed excitement over the influx of new students, who are 99 in total, stating that it demonstrates the school’s capacity to develop future capable leaders.
