The Catholic Women’s Association (CWA) in Malawi is holding its 45th Annual General Meeting from December 18–22, 2024.
The meeting will be held at Chaminade Mission in the Diocese of Karonga under the theme: “Nourishing Parenthood, A Joyful Pathway to Happiness and Holiness.”
CWA National Chairlady Doreen Banda Zimba stated that preparations were proceeding smoothly citing subcommittees’ activity.
“Every committee, including those for protocol, liturgy, accommodations, health, and sanitation, among others, are on the ground ensuring that everything is put up ahead of schedule,” she stated.
Women from every diocese, she added, were dedicated to making arrangements for transportation to take them to the meeting’s location.
Other talks will cover topics such as the nature and purpose of marriage and the family, the Four Principles of the Church’s Social Teaching, CWA Spirituality, and Leadership in the Church, and Cultural and Legal Views on Abortion and Same-Sex Unions, among others.
The presentations will be facilitated by bishops, priests and lay people. His Grace Archbishop George Desmond Tambala, President of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi, officiated the opening liturgy on December 20th.
Elections for the new office holders who will run the association for the next three years, beginning in January 2025, will be a top priority.
Various Catholic media outlets, including Luntha Television, Radio Maria Malawi, Radio Tigabane and Tuntufye Radio will cover the meeting as a means to assist those who are unable to attend in following the discussions.
