ACWECA: Secretary-General Commends Partners for Sisters Blended Value Project

The Secretary-General for the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA), Sr. Bridgita Samba Mwawasa SSJ, has applauded the partners’ role in the implementation of the Sisters Blended Value Project (SBVP)

In a speech read on her behalf at the close of phase one of the SBVP, on Wednesday, 27th November 2024 by the Association’s Deputy Secretary General Sr. Grace Yangi (MSBVM), Sr. Bridgita first appreciated the sisters behind the foundation of ACWECA region and those who have contributed to the development of programs such as the SBVP, stressing that the partners will continue to build on the foundations of ACWECA.

Sr. Bridgita says with distinct recognition to ACWECA’s partners and stakeholders, the collaboration between ACWECA, Conrad Hilton Foundation, and Strathmore University- School of Business, has resulted in valuable accomplishments through the training sessions that have been practical to scale up various congregational enterprises.

She expressed conviction that the Sisters have managed to move to the next level in their activities, reminding themselves that the additional skills and entrepreneurship are business disciplines that involve innovative strategies in business dimensions, adding a quote from Conrad Hilton ‘ Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes but they don’t quit’.

She further stressed that the Sisters ‘ enterprises are an opportunity to use their creativity. The Secretary-General stated that the gaps or challenges experienced during the execution of duties could not be forgotten because they became stepping stones or indicators to re-think or review the strategic models.

Sr. Bridgita highlighted that ACWECA looks forward to continued partnerships with SBS to continue strengthening the capacity of sisters and advocate for competitive and long-term social enterprises that impact society, further stating that their ecclesiastical properties are meant to carry out the specific mission to which prudence is key.

As phase one of the SBVP closes, the ACWECA S.G expressed gratitude to all partners, especially the Conrad Hilton Foundation and Strathmore University- School of Business who immensely contributed to the achievement, adding that the Association will remain collaborating on engagements of the MOU review for successful roll-outs of future regional sustainable activities to the entire region.

Sr. Bridgita reminded everyone to read the latest Church encyclical ‘ Dilexit Nos’, by Pope Francis, released on October 24-2024, which means ‘He loved US’, referencing Romans 8:37 which speaks to the inseparable love of Christ.
