ZAMBIA: Priest Urges Christians To Shun Jealousy
By Meckias Banda
The outgoing Vocation Director of Chipata Diocese in Zambia, Fr. Benson Phiri, has urged Christians to refrain from the destructive spirit of jealousy.
Speaking during Mass at St. Anne’s Cathedral Parish, Fr. Phiri lamented the growing trend of jealousy among Christians and emphasized its detrimental effects on unity and harmony within the faith community.
“God created each person in His own image, and we must respect the dignity of everyone,” Fr. Phiri stressed.
“Unfortunately, some Christians have become stumbling blocks, hindering others from entering the kingdom of heaven,” he continued.
Fr. Phiri called on the faithful to foster unity, love, and support for one another, underscoring the importance of promoting a sense of family within the Church.
He urged Christians to strive to help each other rather than tear each other down, and to work together to build a community that reflects the values of love, compassion, and understanding that Jesus taught.
