UGANDA: Women Empowerment has Enhanced Development in the World Says Prelate
By Masereka Peter
The Bishop of Kasese Diocese Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale has called for exemplary parenting that would see women and the girl child empowered for future contributions as the diocese joins the entire world in praying for the canonization of Fr. Adolph Kolping.
Bishop Kibira attributed the current development in the world to women who have been empowered and have taken various professions and businesses challenging the ancient fathers who violated the rights of women, a move that led to underdevelopment, back in the day.
The Bishop attributed the current family challenges to the underpowered girl child in the past, however, he cautioned women against disrespecting their husbands as a result of the empowerment.
In his speech shortly after presiding over Holy Mass for the 33rd International prayer for the canonization of the Blessed Fr. Adolph Kolping at Uganda Martyrs Nyakasanga, Bishop Kibira described Fr Kolping who was born 08 Dec 1813 and died 04 Dec 1865 as a German Catholic priest and the founder of the Kolping Association.
He led the Kolping movement to provide and promote social support for workers in industrialized cities while also working to promote the dignity of workers.
The Bishop revealed that beatification for Fr. Kolping commenced on 21 March 1934 and he was later titled Venerable in 1989. His beatification was celebrated under Pope John Paul II on 27 October 1991 in Saint Peter’s Square.
Earlier in His homily, the Diocesan Vocation Director, Rev. Fr. Joseph Tumusiime, asked the Christians to emulate the Biblical Bartimaeus by using Christ to see a new world of prayer and hard work rather than expecting miracles from the blue.
Fr. Tumusiime, who doubles as the Diocesan youth chaplain challenged the youth against investing much of their time in political talks on the street but to find possible ways of increasing their household income through work.
