Archbishop of Ndola, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, has challenged the business community to prioritize social justice, environmental sustainability, and equality.
Archbishop Phiri emphasized the need for responsible leadership, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to the greater good. His remarks were delivered by Ndola Archdiocese Vicar General Fr. Lewis Mutachila during the Veritas General Insurance – Brokers Engagement Cocktail held recently in Ndola.
“As the Catholic Church, we often reflect on the intersection of faith and business. Our sacred texts remind us that we are stewards of God’s creation, entrusted with resources to benefit humanity. In the business world, this translates to responsible leadership, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to the greater good,” Archbishop Phiri stated.
“We gather tonight amidst global challenges, economic uncertainties, environmental concerns, and social inequality. Yet, I believe these challenges present opportunities for our company, Veritas, to innovate, adapt, and make a positive impact,” he continued.
“As stakeholders and shareholders, we have a collective responsibility to ensure that our investments align with our values. I urge our leadership to continue prioritizing environmental sustainability, social justice, equality, and ethical governance. Let us harness our resources to create lasting value, not only for our shareholders but also for the communities we serve,” Archbishop Phiri added.
Veritas Chief Executive Officer, David Kandongo, also highlighted the innovations the Catholic-owned insurance company is implementing to serve the public efficiently. He mentioned the acquisition of a state-of-the-art underwriting system by Veritas General Insurance (VGI), which will bring brokers closer to their clients.
Veritas General Insurance is owned by the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB).
