Leader of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba, Rt. Rev. Alfred Chaima, has challenged teachers in Malawi to focus on building a strong foundation of learners in the schools of the country.

Speaking during his tour at Fr. Frederick Scragg Private Catholic Primary School in the diocese on Thursday this week, Bishop Chaima said teachers in the country have a role to play in ensuring learners have a strong base for their future.

“Give these young ones a good and solid human foundation on which they can build their future that we all need,” said Bishop Chaima.

He further urged teachers to handle the young learners with the greatest care they deserved, reiterating that a good academic and social formation is key to an individual’s growth and development.

During the visit, the prelate took a tour to see for himself the facilities at the school to appreciate their condition.

After the tour, Bishop Chaima addressed the 290 learners that gathered for a brief assembly in honour of his visit.

Located near Sacred Heart (Zomba) Cathedral, Fr. Fredrick Scragg Private Catholic Primary School is a co-educational institution which opened its doors in 2019.

It is currently being managed by the Religious Brothers of St. Gabriel.
