ZAMBIA:  Priest Prays For Discernment of The Spirit as Second Session of XVI Assembly Goes on in Rome

As the synodal conversations among bishops and all synod delegates continue in Rome, Fr. Cletus Mwiila, a Zambian Missionary of Synodality, has emphasized the importance of keeping the face of Jesus among his people.

Fr. Mwiila notes that the Synodal journey is not only a human story but the story of God.

He reminds the Church that through the deliberations set to take place over the next three weeks, the synod delegates must go beyond human intelligence, as the discussions should be discerned in the will of the Holy Spirit.

“God is still writing His story,” Fr. Mwiila states, pointing out that this is a story without a conclusion yet.

He stresses that being Synodal is not just about walking together, but about God walking with us.

According to Fr. Mwiila, the Bishops gathered in Rome are called to offer new breath to the Church.

“Remember that Synodality is a shape of the mind; it is a call to change the mindset,” he adds.

He acknowledges that the wind is already blowing in favour of Synodality but stresses the need for its consolidation through deliberations inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Fr. Mwiila has since highlighted that the Synodal conversation in Rome is a call to listen to one another and to the Holy Spirit.
