Chipata Catholic Diocese Judicial Vicar, Fr. Evans Miti, has strongly condemned politicians who embezzle public funds while citizens continue to suffer.

He emphasized that leadership is about service, not self-aggrandizement, and criticized leaders who prioritize personal enrichment over the needs of the people.

Fr. Miti outlined essential qualities for effective leadership in both government and the Church, stressing the importance of being understanding, approachable, and humble. He urged leaders to listen to advice and prioritize the needs of the people, rather than indulging in personal interests.

Fr. Miti reminded leaders to seek spiritual guidance from God, just as children rely on their parents.

His message serves as a call to action for leaders to reflect on their actions and prioritize the well-being of their citizens. This statement comes at a time when Zambia is grappling with corruption and economic challenges, and Fr. Miti’s words resonate with many who are seeking change and accountability in leadership.

He was speaking in his homily during Mass at St. Eugen in Magazine Compound in Chipata District.
