MALAWI: Zomba Prelate Urges Love for the Bible

The Prelate of the Diocese of Zomba Rt. Rev. Alfred Chaima has urged Christians in Malawi to love reading the Bible for their spiritual growth.
Speaking during Eucharist celebration at St. Vincent de Paul- Katamba Parish on Sunday, September 30, 2024, Bishop Chaima expressed the need for Catholic Christians to love reading and understanding the scriptures.
“The Bible contains the Word or God spoken to people of every generation and it must be our habit to read it and reflect on what God says to us at all instances of our lives,” said Bishop Chaima.
He added that the Bible gives comfort and protects mankind from turning against God, hence the need to read the scriptures.
“Jesus Christ used the Bible to defeat satan and we can do the same by making sure that we understand the scriptures and use it to fight for the Kingdom of God” added Bishop Chaima.
The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) dedicated the month of September as Bible month to encourage Catholics to come closer to the Bible read the Word of God in it.
During the Holy Mass, 32 members received the sacrament of confirmation at St, Vincent de Paul parish. The celebration making the closure of Bible for this year witnessed people walking away prizes for the Bible quiz.
