Speaking in Kabwe at the five-day During the 19th Biennial Association of Zambian Diocesan Catholic Clergy (AZADCC) National Conference on 28th August 2024, Fr. Cletus Mwila addressed around 400 priests, urging them to embrace synodality as the way of being Church, and not seeing themselves as a ruling class but as custodians, deeply rooted in service.
Fr. Mwila who was making a presentation on ‘Transformation Leadership in a Synodal Church’ called on priests to be open minded and emancipate themselves from long-held prejudices, stereotypes, customs, addictions, and disordered inclinations saying, “This is a call to see crises as opportunities for change.”
He described the synodal journey as a joint pilgrimage towards freedom, aiming to build a mature Church anchored in the Holy Spirit.
Fr. Mwila’s message resonates with the need for a transformative approach in the Zambian Catholic Church, fostering unity, openness, and spiritual growth among its leaders and followers.
