UGANDA: Hoima Diocese Seeks for 1.147 billion to host the nation youth conference

Hoima Catholic Diocese in Uganda seeks to raise 1.147 billion Ugandan Shillings which is over $300,000 United States Dollars, in a bid to organize the 2024 national youth conference, with the message on the youth to join hands in the mobilization and participation.

According to the preparatory meeting held on Friday 16th Aug 2024 at St Nicholas hall at in Bujumbura ward, western Division in Hoima City, Hoima Catholic diocese is seeking approximately 1.147 billion to organize the national youth conference which is to take place from 10 to 15 December 2024.

According to Rev Fr. Lawrence Mandela the youth chaplain of Hoima Catholic Diocese, the Diocese expects to host more than 10,000 youth from all the 19 Dioceses of Uganda.

 Rev.Fr. Paul Bigabwomu the youth Chaplain of Fort Portal Diocese, the purpose of the conference is to help the youth to know, love and live their faith.

He explains that it will also help them to discover their God-given talents, understand leadership both in church and Government, environmental protection and economic empowerment through creating their own jobs. The conference will help the youth to learn from each other and pleaded with parents to send in their children as it will help them to know God more, in this confusing world.

According to Rev. Fr Mandela each person will be required to pay a registration fee of 20,000 Uganda Shillings as a way of supporting the conference.

He explained that each day of the conference, a bishop will be selected to lead the holy mass.

The guest of honor will be His Excellency the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and on the final day, the Papal Nuncio will preside the Mass.

Fr. Mandela explains that the National Youth Conference was established by the Uganda Episcopal Conference in 1994 and Kabaale was the first to host, followed by Hoima in 1995. END
