The chairperson for the Association of Women Religious Institutes in Malawi (AWRIM) Sr. Janepher Selemani has said Malawi is happy to host the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) as it holds its 19th plenary assembly and celebrates 50th anniversary.

Sr. Selemani said Malawi is happy and proud to be part of the two-tier celebration.

She said this on Monday, August 19, when she welcomed ACWECA delegates from across the region and beyond saying, “The people of Malawi have been running around to prepare for your coming in various responsibilities to ensure that your coming and stay in Malawi will be a memorable one. We are ready to assist you in whichever way we can. Do not hesitate to reach out to us should you require any assistance.”

She said the golden jubilee should give the association time to reflect on what it has achieved over the 50 years and strategize for the future.

The conference has drawn over 200 delegates.

ACWECA’s mission is to empower religious women for deeper evangelization through different programs that are anchored in ongoing religious formation.

The Sisters are also involved in pastoral activities in the Catholic Church.

ACWECA coordinates the ministry of over 30,000 Sisters from about 300 congratulations.
