The Confederation of Conferences of Major Superiors of Africa and Madagascar (COMSAM) has lauded the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) for its great desire to transmit the gospel despite facing many challenges in the region.

COMSAM president Sr. Maria Diouf said this on Monday in Lilongwe during the opening of the 19th general assembly and 50th anniversary for ACWECA.

Sr. Diouf commended the effective integration within ACWECA which she said is a new call to work for the well-being of consecrated life and for the awakening of populations.

“You come from several countries, several cultures and seeing your dynamism and all the challenges that you face and overcome, we have the right to think that the ACWECA- COMSAM relationship should participate in the development and especially in the evangelization of our brothers and sisters in Africa so that consecrated life in Africa contributes more and more, not only to evangelization but also to the development of all Africans,” Sr. Diouf said.

She described ACWECA’S golden jubilee as a moment of constant and true witness to a consecrated life anchored in Christ.

“This testimony shines through the multiple activities of your union and the fruits which spread, not only to your different congratulations and their apostolates, but also to the entire sub -region and ultimately to the entire continent,” she said.
