Kitwe-based Catholic Priest Rev. Fr. Matthew Chamangwa of St Peter’s Parish in Ipusukilo in Zambia says the Church has a prophetic voice to speak on social issues affecting the people not just seen as political.
“The Church is the voice of the voiceless, and the Church is a prophet; we, as priests, share in that. The Church has a prophetic voice, a prophetic role to tell and teach. When things are not ok we will speak, and we will continue challenging each other in our life,” Fr. Chamangwa said emphasizing that the Church guides to challenge social vices for the betterment of society.
Fr. Chamangwa stressed in his homily on Sunday, July 7, that the Church will never be silenced about the truth because Christians cannot compromise on what is wrong but are supposed to do what is right and forge ahead for the betterment of society.
