There will be a thanksgiving Mass cum Investiture with Pallium of Archbishop Benjamin Phiri in the Archdiocese of Ndola to be celebrated on 31st August 2024 in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Ndola from 10:00 hours.
Ndola Archdiocese – Director Pastoral Programs Rev. Fr Ephraim Mulenga Mapulanga announced that the Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia and Malawi, Local Archbishops, and Bishops are expected to attend the celebration.
Last month, Pope Francis erected Ndola as an Archdiocese, with Chief Shepherd Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri as its first Archbishop. Archbishop Phiri received his pallium from Pope Francis Saturday, June 29 2024 at a solemn celebration held in the Basilica of St. Peter, Rome.
Other members of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) who received the pallium include Cardinal Protase Rugambwa, Archbishop of Tabora Tanzania, and Most Rev Raphael P’Mony Wokorach of Gulu Archdiocese, Uganda, who will be installed on 12th July 2024.
According to Archbishop Phiri of Ndola, “The Pallium being a symbol of communion with the Successor of Peter and the Ecclesiastical Province, it is a sign of deeper commitment to the mission to which God has called.” At the same time, “It is a symbol of unity and self-offering.”
