ZAMBIA: Zambian Prelate Launches Sunday Missal in Lunda Language

Catholic Diocese of Solwezi Bishop Rt. Rev. Charles Joseph Sampa Kasonde has described the occasion of the launch of The Lunda Sunday Missal as a great moment that occasioned the Christians to gather together to worship God in Ntambu Deanery of the Catholic Diocese of Solwezi.
Lunda is a Bantu language spoken in Zambia, Angola, and with some people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Addressing the gathering which included Parish Priests, religious men and women, Deacons, Seminarians, lay faithful, catechists, and the Royal Highness entourage among others situated in Ntambu Deanery and surrounding areas.
During Mass of the launch held at St. Andrew Kim Parish in the Ntambu area on Sunday 16th June 2024, Bishop Kasonde said that the occasion was a huge gift the Lord gave to all present.
“This is the great moment that the Lord has given us that we have to worship Him and much more He has given us the Lunda Sunday Missal because of his grace and mercy”,
The Solwezi Diocese Prelate who is also the chairman of the Association of Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) showered words of gratitude directed at those who were involved in his coming to St. Andrews Kim Parish.
He hinted that such a welcoming gesture renders testimony to love and generosity.
“May I take this opportunity to thank you singularly and communally for the good gesture that you have given me out of your love and generosity for the ministry in the church,” Bishop Kasonde said.
Bishop Kasonde imparted episcopal blessings upon the gathering urging them all to strengthen one another in faith.
“Continue strengthening one another that you all grow in your faith from strength to strength,” The Prelate said.
Bishop Kasonde commended the Diocesan Pastoral and Liturgical Commission and Suwon Diocese of Korea for their meticulous work.
“By way of conclusion, may I extend hearty and well-deserved thanks to the Pastoral and Liturgical Commissions members for the great work of translating and compiling this Sunday Missal,” Bishop Kasonde said.
