On June 20, 2024, a significant event unfolded at Musenga Catholic Church in Chingola, Zambia where Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, Vicar General of the Ndola Archdiocese, introduced the Salesian Priests of Don Bosco to their new pastoral responsibilities.

Previously renowned for their involvement in skills training and education, the Salesians will now oversee Musenga Catholic Church and St. Paul Catholic Church, Luano, formerly outstations of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish.

The warmth of the reception was profound as the Parish Priest of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish—Rev. Fr. Cletus Mutunu, the Provincial Superior of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Rev. Fr. Michael Mbandama, SDB, and Salesian Clergy, Salesians of Don Bosco Cooperators—and parishioners welcomed the Vicar General with jubilation, singing, and dancing.

Musenga Catholic Church currently has a foundation laid for a new church building. The formal handover and blessing of that church building, once completed by Most Rev. Benjamin Phiri, the Archbishop-elect of Ndola Archdiocese, is eagerly anticipated soon.

This event marks a new chapter in the spiritual journey of Chingola, highlighting unity, faith, and the spirit of community and the Archdiocese’s vision to expand its reach to remote areas with the help of pastoral agents.
