During the launch of the Communication Network for Catholic Sisters in Kenya (CNCS-K) on Friday, June 14, which was preceded by a two-day workshop at Radix Hotel Nairobi, the sisters’ communicators unveiled the logo that will provide instant brand recognition and identification in this new initiative.
Expounding on the various symbols used in the logo, the Director of the Sisters network Sr. Michelle Njeri a member of the Franciscan Sister of the Immaculate Conception (OSF) said the logo is composed of the map of Kenya, an icon of waves, speaker and the cross with a theme colour of cyan blue and white.
Being Kenyans, “the map represents our country Kenya since other countries also have CNCS and this is to help differentiate us,” Sr. Njeri said while addressing a dozen Catholic sisters professionals in communication prior to the launch.
She noted that the icon of waves depicts the communication network and the readiness of religious women communicators to disseminate information to the people. In this case, the speaker icon represents the various digital channels the Sisters will use for communication.
As religious women devoted to serving the people of God in the Catholic Church, the logo also has a symbol of a cross which Sr. Njeri says “represents our faith as Catholics and as religious. Besides, it is the cross of Christ whom we emulate as the first communicator.”
She added, that the theme colour for CNCS-K is cyan blue, and white.
As the Sisters communicators in Kenya embark on this initiative funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, they are driven by the mission to promote the apostolate of Catholic Sisters through media visibility for evangelization and social transformation.
Embracing prayer, integrity, accountability, respect, and diversity as well as network and partnership as the core values for the initiative, the sisters’ vision is to be a dynamic network of empowered catholic sisters, evangelizing through stories of social transformation.”
