ZAMBIA: Lusaka Archdiocese, Has New Vicar General, a Jesuit

In a press release issued by His Grace Archbishop Alick Banda of Lusaka Archdiocese on June 20, 2024, Fr. Andrew Simpasa, a member of the Society of Jesus (S.J), has been named the new Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Lusaka, effective immediately.
Fr. Simpasa who is currently serving as Parish Priest at St. Ignatius Parish in Rhodespark, Lusaka, takes over from Fr. Solomon Tembo, who has served in the role for the past 7 years. He was born in Livingstone, Zambia, where he completed his primary and secondary education before going for university studies and later becoming a member of the Society of Jesus.
Prior to his appointment as Vicar General, Fr. Simpasa has had a distinguished journey serving the Church and the Zambian community. He has held leadership positions such as Executive Director at Kasisi Agricultural Training Centre (KATC), Co-ordinator of the Zambia-Malawi Province COVID-19 Task Force, and Programme Manager for Socio-economic Development (SED) at the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR). These experiences have equipped him with over 20 years of expertise in administration, human resource management, risk management, compliance, and program management.
