UGANDA: Make In Families A Good Environment for Vocations, Says Ugandan Prelate
Masereka Peter
Five Lectors and Acolytes have been received in the Roman Catholic Church as Hoima Parish celebrated the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary her patron saint.
The Ordinary of Kasese, Rt Rev Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale who introduced them to the congregation, called for prayers, advice, and physical support as the Lectors and Acolytes prepare for priesthood.
The Ordinary encouraged Christians to work closely with priests and the Religious in parishes, as well as carry out their parental role accordingly in a bid to produce good future ministers of the church, calling on priests to reward Christians who always take good care of them with performing the role and duties as it is expected.
Bishop Kibira hailed the presence of the young generation in the church, a gesture he said gives hope for the future of the Catholic Church in Africa, urging parents to encourage children to join church movements especially the missionary childhood and Junior of Mary on top of teaching them norms and values of the Catholic Church at a tender age.
In his homily while presiding over Holy Mass, Bishop Kibira encouraged priests, seminarians, parents, and civil servants among others to entrust in the intercession of Mother Mary who was the first tabernacle of Jesus Christ.
He challenged parents and guardians about good parenting of the young generation, saying parents shouldn’t only praise Mother Mary but also emulate her actions.
And on his part, Kasese Diocesan Vocation Director Rev Fr Joseph Tumusiime, said one seminarian Philip Mikanyu will be ordained a deacon this month, appealing to the diaconate candidates to live a life according to their calling, but also asking parents and Christians to continue praying for them in their two years journey to priesthood.
Some of the seminarian’s parents of the seminarians commended the Almighty God who guided them and the Bishop for accepting as well as preparing them to serve at the altar of god asking their children to continue with good discipline and respect.
The Seminarians include Luciano Mbusa Kikereza from Kyalhumba Parish, Semi. David Bwambale from Kitabu, Semi. Robert Bwambale Mathonde from Kasanga Parish Semi Rhodrick Asaba from Ibanda Parish, Philip Mikini from Nsenyi Parish.
On 29th June 2024 at St. John Minor Seminary-Kiburara, the diocese will have the ordination of three deacons to Priesthood and five seminarians to Deaconate
