The Hilton Foundation is pleased with the implementation of the St. Bakhita partnership project in the Mazabuka District of Southern Province in Zambia.

The St. Bakhita partnership project for education aims to improve the quality of and access to education for girls who have or are at risk of dropping out of school.

The project is being implemented across 15 schools in Zambia for vulnerable and disabled girl children.

Addressing girls during the project visit which included two schools, Sr. Jane Wakahiu the Associate Vice President, Program Operations, and Head of Catholic Sisters at the Hilton Foundation, commended them for their commitment and focus on their vision.

Sr. Wakahiu states that even if the project cannot fund all the girls, the ones being sponsored are a beacon of hope for others.

And on her part, Sr. Bertha Chisanga, a missionary Sister of the Precious Blood who is the project coordinator, highlighted the project’s impact, noting that one of the girls passed her Grade 12 examinations with the highest grades.

Meanwhile, the girls paid a glowing tribute to the Hilton Foundation for its continued support of the project while sharing their touching stories of going back to school after dropping out.
