UGANDA: Episcopal Installation Date of the New Gulu Archbishop Wokorach confirmed

The installation and imposition of the pallium of Archbishop-elect Raphael P’Mony Wokorach MCCJ as Archbishop of Gulu has been announced as Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Gulu.
This follows his appointment by the Holy Father Pope Francis on March 22, 2024, which was announced by the papal nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Luigi Bianco.
The announcement of the installation was made by Emeritus Archbishop of Gulu, John Baptist Odama, who expressed joy and anticipation for the upcoming ceremony as he prepared to retreat from the Gulu Bishop’s presbytery following his retirement.
In a letter from Gulu Archdiocese dated 16th April 2024, addressed to the clergy, Religious, lay faithful and people of goodwill, Archbishop Odama said, “I have the joy to announce to you that the date for the installation of Most Rev. Raphael P’Mony Wokorach MCCJ as Bishop of Gulu Archdiocese and the imposition of the pallium on him is now set for Friday 12th July at St. Joseph’s Cathedral Gulu,”
The installation and imposition of the pallium will take place during a solemn Eucharistic celebration scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
In an event set to mark a new chapter in the spiritual leadership of Gulu Catholic Archdiocese, the appointment of Archbishop Raphael P’Mony Wokorach MCCJ signals a period of transition and renewal for the Catholic community of Gulu.
Dr. John Baptist Odama, the Archbishop Emeritus of Gulu who is now the Apostolic Administrator of Gulu Archdiocese said the installation of the new Archbishop will be animated by the Papal Nuncio, Luigi Bianco.
Dr. Odama urged all the Christians and well-wishers to prepare to welcome the new Archbishop and grant him all the necessary support to ease his work of leading the Christians.
Wokorach who is currently the Bishop of Nebbi diocese, a position he was appointed to in 2021 was ordained a priest in 1993. He was appointed Archbishop Gulu Archdiocese March 22, 2024.
Archbishop Wokorach, 63, a member of the Comboni Missionaries, has been Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese since March 2021.
