Auxiliary bishop for the archdiocese Right Reverend Vincent Mwakhwawa has urged the youths who have just received the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe to help build a strong church amidst the temptations being faced with digital transformation.
Bishop Mwakhwawa made the call when administering the Sacrament to 84 youth members at one of the parishes, Saint Andrea Kaggwa on April 8.
“The Sacrament you have received implies that you are advancing in your Christianity. Begin to use the talents and spiritual gifts to build the church,” Bishop Mwakhwawa said.
He challenged members of Small Christian Communities to take up their responsibility of guiding and creating the environment needed for confirmed members to grow their Christianity.
“Because that is the foundation for forming vocations needed in the church as it expands with the growing human population,” said the Bishop.
A representative of the confirmed members Tamara Chiutsi, while accepting to help build a strong church, called on SCC members to be firm in supporting them.
She said, “We are ready to give ourselves for service. We hope and pray that we stand firm in our Catholic faith for His name to be exalted.”
On his part, the Parish priest of Saint Andrea Kaggwa Parish Monsignor Patrick Thawale dared the newly confirmed members to be exemplary and increase prayers to overcome temptations in their Christian life.
Confirmation of the 84 was shifted to April from August 2023 due to logistical challenges according to Parish Council Vice Chairperson Atusaye Mwambokera.
