ZAMBIA: Retiring Diocesan Priest Urges Christians to Forgive and Embrace Peace

Sandra Kunda

A retiring diocesan priest from the Archdiocese of Kasama in Zambia has urged Christians  to disdain vengeance and, instead, entrust everything to God who is love.

During his farewell Mass at Christ the King Lukashya Parish main Church, Father Damian Musonda Kanuma, the former Priest-in-Charge, emphasized the importance of love and forgiveness among believers.

Fr. Kanuma, encouraged Christians to extend forgiveness even to their enemies, emphasizing the swift resolution of conflicts through forgiveness.

“Do not seek revenge,” urged the retired Priest to the congregation, advising them not to dwell on past grievances or hold grudges against those who have wronged them.

And Fr. Kanuma underscored the significance of promoting peace within families, Small Christian Communities, lay Apostolic Movements, workplaces, and Churches.

In a final appeal, the retired Priest urged parishioners to foster the growth of their Small Christian communities into robust prayer groups, emphasizing the importance of spiritual unity and support within the parish.

Fr. Kanuma served as Priest-in-Charge of Lukashya Parish from 2019 to December 2023.
