Sandra Kunda
A Catholic missionary priest serving in the Archdiocese of Kasama in Zambia has urged Christians to embrace care and mercy towards one another.
Father Emmanuel Kolpe Kodjo, a member of the Missionaries of Africa emphasized the importance of generosity and giving back to the Church.
Preaching the message of love, forgiveness, and mercy, Father Emmanuel, currently stationed at Saint Anne’s New Town Parish in Kasama, encouraged Christians to emulate the merciful nature of God in their daily lives.
In his homily on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, Father Emmanuel reminded the congregation of their duty to extend compassion and forgiveness to others.
He emphasized the significance of Divine Mercy Sunday, observed by the global Catholic community on the Second Sunday of Easter each year, as a reminder of God’s boundless mercy.
And Father Emmanuel also urged Christians to practice generosity, not only in material giving but also in showing kindness and understanding towards their fellow human beings.
He emphasized that by embodying the spirit of mercy and compassion, Christians can contribute to fostering a more loving and harmonious society.
As the faithful gathered to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, Father Emmanuel’s words served as a poignant reminder of the fundamental teachings of Christianity – to love one another and extend mercy to all.
