ZAMBIA: Construction of Saint Monica Kampamba Parish in Zambia Gains Momentum After Storm Destruction
Sandra Kunda
The construction of Saint Monica Kampamba Parish main church building in Mungwi District of the Archdiocese of Kasama in Zambia is progressing rapidly, reaching an advanced stage.
Father Julius Musonda, the Priest-in-Charge of Saint Monica’s Kampamba Parish in the Archdiocese of Kasama, reports that the construction of the new parish church is proceeding smoothly.
He anticipates that roofing works will commence shortly, bringing the project one step closer to completion.
The need for a new church arose in 2021 when a severe storm destroyed the old church building during heavy rains and strong winds.
Father Musonda extends his gratitude to the parishioners of Kampamba Parish and well-wishers for their unwavering commitment and support towards the construction of the new church.
He also expresses his appreciation to Archbishop Ignatius Chama of Kasama and the entire administration of the Archdiocese for their continuous support to the parish.
Archbishop of Kasama, His Grace Ignatius Chama, established Saint Monica’s Kampamba as a Sub-Parish in 2018, elevating it to the status of a full-fledged Parish in 2020, with Father John Brian Bwalya serving as the first Priest-in-Charge.
