KENYA: Ordination of Auxiliary Bishops for Nairobi, a Gift to the Archdiocese: AMECEA Secretariat

On April, Saturday 6, the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Nairobi, Kenya, ordained two auxiliary bishops Rt. Rev. Simon Peter Kamomoe and Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng’ang’a Gachihi who the Secretary General of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) has said is a great gift to the Archdiocese.
“We received with great joy and gratitude to God, the news of your appointment as the Auxiliary Bishops of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi, the Christian faithful, and all people of goodwill in congratulating you and thanking God for this great gift,” Fr. Anthony Makunde said in a message dated Friday, April 5, a day to Episcopal Consecration, cognizant that AMECEA Secretariat is situated right in the Archdiocese.
AMECEA Secretariat whose mandate is to fulfill the bishops’ mission from nine countries: Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, and other two affiliate countries Djibouti and Somali, is located in the ecclesiastical territory of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, aims to inspire and empower God’s family in the region to a credible and prophetic witness to Christ, by promoting unity, justice, peace, and solidarity.
“We promise to offer our prayers and support for your apostolate,” Fr. Makunde said referring to Msgr. Kamomoe and Msgr. Ng’ang’a as he adds, “May our loving God continue blessing you for the selfless service and give you the strength you need in ministering your flocks.”
For the first time, Nairobi Archdiocese has four prelates: Archbishop Philip Subira Anyolo, Auxiliary Bishop David Kamau Ng’ang’a, Auxiliary Bishop Simon Peter Kamomoe, and Auxiliary Bishop Wallace Ng’ang’a Gachihi together with Archbishop Emeritus His Eminence John Cardinal Njue.
