Chipata Catholic Diocese’s Auxiliary Bishop Gabriel Msipu has called for equitable distribution of relief food as Government addresses the anticipated food shortages due to drought and emphasizing that measures would have to be taken to prevent hunger-related deaths.
During a pastoral visit to Saint Atanazio Catholic Parish, Bishop Msipu emphasized the importance of equitable distribution of food relief packages, pledging collaboration between the Church, NGOs, and the Government to ensure no one is left hungry.
Acknowledging the widespread impact of the drought on households, Bishop Msipu underscored the collective responsibility to alleviate suffering, stating that assistance extended beyond the Government’s mandate.
He called for coordinated efforts to combat hunger, emphasizing the need for transparent distribution processes to reach those most in need.
Furthermore, Bishop Msipu urged the Government to address the high cost of living, recognizing the challenges faced by families struggling to meet basic needs amidst economic pressures.
