ZAMBIA: Former SECAM’s Secretary General Appointed Human Rights Commissioner

Former Secretary General of Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) and Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) Reverend Father Joseph Komakoma has been sworn in as a Commissioner of the Human Rights Commission in Lusaka Zambia.
With 42 years of service as a priest, Father Komakoma has established himself as a dedicated advocate for social justice and good governance.
Father Komakoma brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served at the SECAM as well as the Zambia Episcopal Conference ZEC), now known as the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB). Prior to that, he worked for many years as Director for Justice and Peace at the Conference in Zambia.
Meanwhile, Fr Komakoma has asked for continuous prayers God’s grace as he charges his duties since he will be sitting on the Commission to represent the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB).
And during the ceremony, State President Hichilema charged Father Komakoma with the responsibility to actively promote the rights and freedoms of the citizenry.
He emphasized the importance of a just and fair society within a democratic nation like Zambia, urging the commission to collaborate closely with other stakeholders to address human rights abuses.
