ZAMBIA: Archbishop Banda Ask Christians to Strengthen Faith Amid Challenges
Sandra Kunda
Metropolitan Archbishop of Lusaka Most Rev. Alick Banda has reassured the faithful that God continues to respond to the sufferings they are going through despite the apparent absence of His divine intervention.
In his Lenten address, Archbishop Banda highlighted the prevalence of a severe cholera outbreak, escalating living costs, impending hunger, and political turbulence, all of which are testing the resilience of Christian faith.
The Archbishop emphasizes the need for a robust and practical faith during these trying times, acknowledging the emotional, mental, and spiritual distress faced by believers.
“This Lenten Season should be an opportunity for Christians to grow stronger in faith,” Archbishop Banda declared.
In a proactive move considering the ongoing cholera crisis, the Season of Lent inspired Archbishop Banda to donate essential supplies, including chlorine, sanitizers, and soaps to support the fight against the epidemic, an act that serves as the Church’s tangible expression of solidarity with frontline health workers battling the outbreak.
Archbishop Banda expressed gratitude to health workers, commending their tireless efforts in combating the pandemic while assuring them that the Church stands united with them as they work diligently to bring healing and hope to those affected.
As the Season of Lent unfolds, Archbishop Banda encourages intensified prayer, fasting, and almsgiving among Christians, reinforcing the message of solidarity and resilience in the face of adversity.
