ZAMBIA: Caritas Zambia Concerned Over Utilization of Climate Change Resources by Government

Caritas Zambia Executive Director, Fr. Dr. Gabriel Mapulanga, has voiced deep concern over the government’s prudent utilization of climate change resources and the environmental degradation resulting from illegal gold mining and various human activities.

Fr. Mapulanga emphasized the urgent need for responsible management of climate-related funds and heightened awareness of environmental neglect.

He highlighted the significance of climate change and its far-reaching impacts on communities around the country.

“We are witnessing the consequences of climate change, and it is imperative that the resources allocated to combat it are utilized wisely and ethically,” stated Fr. Mapulanga.

Fr. Mapulanga stressed on the environmental havoc caused by illegal gold mining in some parts of the country and various human activities.

He expressed deep concern over the detrimental effects of these activities on ecosystems and water sources that lead to irreparable damage.

“The issue of the environment is cardinal and should not be taken lightly,” Fr. Mapulanga emphasized.

Fr. Mapulanga further underscored the need for collaboration between government, environmental organizations, and local communities to develop and implement strategies that mitigate the environmental consequences of human activities.
