The Archbishop of Uganda’s Gulu Archdiocese Most Reverend John Baptist Odama has urged humanity to make 2024, a year of peace and love by reducing violence in society.

He made this appeal on Monday, January 01, in a media engagement shortly after attending the religious profession of Sisters under the Institute of Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (MSMMC) at Ngetta in Uganda’s Lira diocese.

The Prelate called it a shame that after a million years of existence, human beings are still fighting each other, the reason why he called for tolerance, forgiveness reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence in the new year 2024.

Citing wars between Ukraine and Russia, Palestine and Israel as well as the insecurity which is still in Sudan and South Sudan, Archbishop Odama revealed that it is a sign that people have not yet been transformed by the birth of Jesus Christ in the world.

He said Jesus Christ was born to bring transformation in the lives of human beings, unity between God and Humanity, and people among themselves.

The Archbishop further reiterated that the year 2024 should be violence-free saying that it should begin from homesteads.
