MALAWI: Accident Claims Life of Kiltegan Priest

A priest of St. Patrick’s Missionaries (Kiltegan Fathers), Rev. Fr. Martin Kavisu, died on Friday, December 15, 2023, after being involved in a car accident around Kamphata in Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe.
Rev. Fr. Kavisu, who was parish priest for St. Kizito (Chigoneka) in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, has died after his car hit a stationary vehicle during the wee hour of Friday. Due to the impact, late Fr. Kavisu sustained serious head injuries.
Born on August 7, 1982, Fr. Kavisu hailed from Kitui, St. Paul’s Parish, under Kitui Diocese in Kenya. He was ordained a priest on May 28, 2016.
After his ordination, he served at Christ the Redeemer in Eldoret, Kenya. Later, he came to Malawi and served at St. Augustine, Dowa Parish, as a parochial vicar.
He was then asked to serve at St. Kizito Chigoneka Parish (Area 47, Lilongwe) as a parochial vicar before he was appointed parish priest of the same parish until his death.
He was also serving as a Vocations Director for the Missionaries of St. Paricks in Malawi and Zambia and as the congregation’s bursar in Malawi.
Fr. Kavisu was laid to rest on Thursday, December 21, at St. Patrick’s Society cemetery in Kenya’s Nakuru Diocese.
