SOUTH SUDAN: Government Officials Pray That Late Bishop Paride Intercedes for Peace in South Sudan

The government officials of South Sudan have on Tuesday 07, November 2023, during the requiem mass of late Bishop Emeritus Paride Taban pray for his Soul to intercede for peace in South Sudan.
Speaking during the requiem mass at St. Theresa Cathedral of Juba Archdiocese, Right honorable speaker of the Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assembly Jama Nunu Kumba said Bishop Paride didn’t limit his work to evangelization work alone, but he was a man who provided tangible services to the people.
“Bishop Taban didn’t only serve in the Church by praying or in his evangelization work, but he provided tangible services to the people. He open schools in the liberated areas, he open hospitals in the liberated areas.”
Nunu Stated that the work of Bishop Paride impacted on the lives of many South Sudanese in the regions across the Country.
“Bishop Paride did a lot as we all know, in terms of service to the people. I’m one of the people who lived in the area of Torit Diocese during the liberation struggle. I can confidently testify that the work of Bishop Paride impacted on many lives. Not only on the lives of people of Eastern Equatoria Diocese, but on the lives of money South Sudanese of other regions.”
Paride indeed was a liberator not by the use of gun, but he was a key advocate for peace to come and for the independent of South Sudan, “Honorable Speaker narrated.”
Jama Nunu described Bishop Emeritus as Mother Theresa because of his hard work for serving people in a difficult time.
“I can say Bishop Paride is our Mother Theresa in South Sudan because he lived for a purpose and the purpose of serving his people even in a difficult time, he worked with solders, and sometimes we could be angry with him because he was telling the truth.”
He was a friend, but when he said I don’t want to you to do this, we were not happy with him, but indeed we realized those advice were important, “She stressed.”
The speaker called on the people of South Sudan to define the purpose of being on this world, and learn from the life of Bishop Emeritus Paride Taban.
“I think all of us should define our own purpose of live, and at times like this, what we can do is to learn the good things that our colleagues or brothers did, and what lesion can we learn from them.”
She added that the government of South Sudan will continue to remember the good things which he has done towards peace of the country.
Sarah Nene, the deputy governor of Central Equatoria State regretted the passage of Emeritus, citing that Bishop as left a gap of peace in South Sudan.
Nene appealed to Bishops, priests, and believers to work hard and pray for Bishop Paride to become a Saint in South Sudan.
“We the Catholics, believers, Bishops and priests should work on this. Let us hear that Bishop Paride Taban has become a Saint in South Sudan.”
The deputy governor believed that Emeritus is already with angles in heaven and he should continue praying for total peace in South Sudan.
His Lordship Paride Taban who God called in Nairobi on 1st November 2023, was buried on 10th of November 2023, at the Diocese of Torit.
