Christians at Wasera Parish in the Apostolic Vicariate of Hosanna in Ethiopia, have been called upon to promote the process of fraternal collaboration and journeying together as the people of God as they emulate St. Theresa of the child Jesus the patron saint of their parish.
Sharing with AMECEA Online in an interview after the parish marked the feast day on October 2, the Vicar Apostolic of Hosanna Bishop Seyoum Fransua Noel highlighted that as the Synod goes on in Rome, Christians are asked to “create a synodal church where everybody in the church is walking together and participating in the spirit of mission so as to make the church of Africa a family.”
According to the Prelate, the feast of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus symbolizes unity, love, Religious tolerance and in a way forms part of the re-evangelization of the synodal journey.
He encouraged the Christians in the parish which six years ago was declared a shrine for the southern Churches in Ethiopia “to imitate the life of St. Tereza of the child Jesus, her love, her humility, her spirit of service and mission, and to be instruments of peace on earth.”
The French Saint who died at the age of 24 and was Canonized after 28 years is known as “a highly influential model of sanctity for Catholics and for others because of the simplicity and practicality of her approach to the spiritual life.”
