ACWECA: Ethiopia Host ACWECA’s First Workshop on Church Administration and Leadership

Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa which has its headquarters in Kenya had its first workshop on Church administration and leadership with representatives of the Ethiopian Catholic Church missionary’s association from October 9th -13th 2023.
The workshop attended by representatives of female religious and priests from various associations addressed various perspectives of Canon Law in Church Finance, Human resource and Temporal Goods, governance and administration, and economic self-sustainability methodologies.
Sr. Lujina Gebrewold, FMOC, Board member and national representative of ACWECA, said that the workshop was the beginning of the big step of having the Ethiopian Catholic Church Women Religious Association.
Additionally, Sr. Gebrewold narrated that ACWECA is a good example of a sisterhood association for the service of churches and communities. This workshop was organized by the Conference of Major Religious Superiors (CMRS) supported by ACWECA and is for the second time after the last session on Formation of Formatter. Sister says “As a board member, I have been engaged in many discussions, and workshops with ACWECA for the past years and it has been a great wish and opportunity to start the association at the local level.”
Sister Lujina said ACWECA Ethiopia will be launched in February 2024.
At the end of the workshop, discussions on other related issues, especially the establishment of a legal and modern property and financial management system of the Church, which is one of the goals set in the ten-year pastoral plan of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, were presented and discussed.
