The Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira has pledged financial support to have the eleven survivors of the ADF attack on Mpondwe-Lhubiriha community secondary school in Kasese district, back in school.
On 16th June 2023 night, an armed gang suspected to be ruminants of the Allies for Democratic Force [ADF] overran Peter Hunt currently known to be Mpondwe community secondary school, killed over forty learners, about three neighbouring villagers, others nursing wonders at Bwera General hospital and abducted about six others.
In his speech to the survivors and parents in Bukonzo west constituency yesterday, Rt. Rev. Kibira who pledged financial collaboration with the parents and guardians of the survivors, said the matter at hand should not focus on the past but the future of how they can continue with their education.
Bishop Kibira said he has written to Uganda’s Vice President H.E Jessica Alupa about the survivors whose dream needs to be fulfilled through attaining quality education
The Bishop, who said he was concerned about any means to rehabilitate the survivors, asked them to be disciplined while at any school he was to choose for their studies soon.
Mdm. Josephine Mujungu, the head teacher for Kitholhu secondary school described discipline and focus as key pillars of education without which, the learners will not deliver.
Some of the survivors commended the Bishop Kibira for his parental care and for restoring their lost hope, saying that with his help they will put much focus on their education as the only hope for a bright future.
Earlier, Bishop Kibira said that whereas he was planning to have them study out of Kasese district as means to rebuild their consciousness, he changed mind because their parents would be cut off.
