UGANDA: UCE Appoints First Station Manager for Uganda Catholic Television

The Uganda Episcopal Conference has appointed Rev. Fr. Augustine Sunday Masereka as the first Acting Station Manager of the Uganda Catholic Television at Catholic Secretariat, Nsambya Kampala after its official opening on 3rd June, 2023, at Namugongo Shrine.
Rev. Fr Augustine Sunday Masereka, who is one of the founder members of Kasese Guide Radio, a Catholic commercial radio station owned by the Diocese of Kasese has served as station managing director for over 15 years before this new appointment.
On 5th February 2020, Wednesday the Uganda Catholic Television (UCTV) was connected by Signet Uganda to transmit on Free to Air as the first Catholic TV in Uganda.”
UCTV by then was transmitting within Kampala region, which covers a radius of about 60 km on a digital TV set connected to an antenna or a Free-to-Air decoder, then on 3rd June, 2023, it secured a space on Zuku channel code 074
The Bishop of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale who announced the appointment on 8th August, 2023, has also appointed Rev. Sr. Sarah Muhindo DST as the new Managing Director for Kasese Guide Radio
In his homily while presiding over Eucharistic celebration at Kasese Cathedral Church as staff and listeners said farewell to Fr. Augustine, Bishop Kibira describes the poorest person on earth as that one who doesn’t love Gd and his fellows, adding that he personally knows Fr. Augustine as a person who has love and dedication to his call and duties. Therefore, he is confident that Fr. Augustine will perform in his new appointment.
Bishop Kibira has expressed excitement on this new appointment because Fr. Augustine will represent the diocese.
At the farewell reception which was hosted at Kasese Guide Radio gardens, the Diocesan Vicar General Msgr Landaus Bwambale commended the service of Fr. Augustine who almost started the Radio with nothing, asking all radio listeners to work with the new Director for the continuity of the Radio development.
On his part, the chairperson of the Board of Directors for Kasese Guide Radio, Mr. Constantine Bwambale has also commended Fr. Augustine for his exemplary leadership and laying a strong foundation for his successor.
