The Bishop Diocese of Kasese Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira has cautioned Christians against pride and urged them to serve God’s people with humility and love in fulfillment of the Lord’s command.

Bishop Kibira has said it was during the last Supper, when Jesus Christ constituted the Sacrament of the Eucharist and the vocation of priesthood.

In his homily while presiding over Last Supper Holy Mass at Our Lady Mary of Assumption Kasese Cathedral on 06th April 2023, the Bishop said the Holy Thursday marked the beginning of the three days of Suffering, Death but also the Resurrection of Christ, thus, asking Christians to journey with the Lord during the period.

He said during the last supper, Christ washed the feet of his disciplines as a sign of humility and love for one another, and that he asked all Christians to emulate him by forgiving, reconciling and minding to serve others without looking at their status.

Bishop Kibira warned leaders at all levels against being taken away by pride and personal interest and forgets about the main reason elected and posted in their different offices.

Bishop Kibira who encouraged Christians to recite the rosary especially the mystery of Light which was re-highlighted by Pope John Paul II, later reminded believers in Christ about the Sacrament of Eucharist that is a sign of love that Christ left to them.

Meanwhile on Good Friday during the veneration of the Cross shortly after the Way of the Cross at Kasese Cathedral Parish, believers in Christ were asked to journey with Christ whose suffering, death and resurrection conquered the devil.

In his reflection during the Way of the Cross for the Kasese Cathedral Parish that was flagged off at Katodoba trading center by Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira, the Director for Caritas Kasese Fr. Anyasio Mbusa asked Christians to emulate Christ who suffered to conquer Satan on behalf of the world.

Fr. Anyasio also asked Christians to allow Christ’s suffering to take a center stage in their lives if they were to be healed.

Mr. Zepher Mubingwa, the Kasese Deputy RDC in charge of Busongora County said Good Friday that is sealed by Christ’s resurrection must be respected and celebrated because it is the foundation of Christianity.

ASP Martine Kiiza who said they were blessed to be part of the way of the Cross as individual Catholic police officers, called for more vigilance against any security threat among the festival celebrants.
