Bishop Charles Kasonde has urged priests to be available to one another through visitation. Bishop Kasonde said this in his homily when he celebrated mass during commencement of the 2023 Presbyteral Council Meeting for priests and the Religious who are fostering evangelization of God’s people in Solwezi Diocese.

He emphasized that visitation, among the priests, facilitates sharing of experiences and learning from one another as brothers in priesthood.

The meeting which was held on Wednesday 22rd March, 2023 attracted 67 priests and the Religious drawn from different parishes and sub-parishes in the Diocese.

And the local ordinary, Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde noted that Presbyteral Council Meeting gives an opportunity to priests to share and compare pastoral notes as well sharing successes and challenges.

He also said Presbyteral Council Meetings offer a chance to priests to elaborate on how pastoral challenges can be tackled for effective evangelization of God’s people.

Bishop Kasonde further urged priests to freely and authentically discuss the demands of pastoral work in their various parishes and sub-Parishes.

A Presbyteral Council Meeting comprises of priests and the Religious whose duty is to give consultation views towards the Administrative and Pastoral management of the Diocese whereby the bishop is President of the assembly.

The meeting started with a day of recollection preached by Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Simukazye Chancellor of Zambia Catholic University (ZCU) and lecturer.
