The Bishop of Mansa Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Patrick Chisanga has urged priests to be protectors of planet Earth.
“The earth is crying every day because of the various injuries human race has continued to inflict on her. The bad effects of climate change need to be taken seriously. As priests, you need to be ambassadors of the message to care and protect mother earth,” Bishop Chisanga said.
Mansa Diocese’s Pastoral theme for 2023 is ‘Care and Protection of Mother Earth – Our Common Home’.
Meanwhile, Rt Rev. Chisanga has called on priests in the diocese to regard their vocation as a service to the people of God, arguing that priests should not regard priesthood as a ladder to self-gratification.
“As priests, remember that the special gift God has given you is for rendering service to others and not for self-enrichment,” he said.
The bishop was speaking Thursday, 24th March, 2023 in the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary during the celebration of Chrism Mass.
