The Bishop of Uganda’s Kotido Diocese Rt. Rev Dominic Eibu (MCCJ) has called on Christians to listen to the voice of God and be reconciled to God through His Word.

He made appeal to Christians while giving his homily during the Eucharistic celebration on the occasion of the Fourth Sunday of Lent at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral in Lira diocese noting that it is timely for the believers to own the word of God, make it part of their lives in order to be reconciled to God.

This was after Bishop Dominic Eibu who was coming from Gulu back to his diocese made a stopover in Lira diocese to convey special greetings to Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok and the Christians of Lira diocese after having successfully presided over the celebration as chief guest on “Adoption Day”, at Uganda Martyrs National Major Seminary Alokolum-Gulu  held on 17th March 2023, a very special day in the unique culture of the Seminary where Seminarians in first year of formation are adopted by their foster parents.

While in Lira, bishop Dominic Eibu was this time invited by his brother bishop Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok to preside over the Eucharistic celebration where he observed that during this special moment of Lent, it is important for the Christians to listen to God’s voice and know how to distinguish other voices that are around them to enable them avoid distraction and be in union with God.

He went on to remind Christians that they are invited to reflect and make proper discernment upon the choices they make that can unite them to other people and to God.

In his reflection, bishop said, “my dear brothers and sisters we are being invited today to meditate upon how do we allow the word of God to be our light, how do we distinguish other voices that can help us to make choices that unite us to God and to other people, how do we love the God in Whom we believe”.

Bishop Eibu (MCCJ) added that all believers are reminded to examine themselves whether they are being guided by God in a move to remain in close union with God and one another.

Also during his homily, the bishop further went on sharing that through thoughts, deeds or words, people always fail to do the right thing when they deviate and resist to listen and follow the voice of God, the reason why it is paramount for individuals to listen to God’s voice.

He stressed the need for people to avoid earthly distractions and be reconciled to God through His word and to allow themselves to be guided by the Light of Christ during and after the season of Lent.

By giving the example, the bishop invited the Christians to walk with one another towards the light of Christ during the period of Lent especially the vulnerable children like the street kids in dire need of assistance from the people.

He mentioned that during the period of Lent, believers are encouraged to come up with initiatives in view to extend spiritual and material assistance to the street children within their vicinities to enable them be guided by God and walk in the light of Christ.

The Bishop then said he is grateful to the Christians of Lira diocese for their spiritual, moral and material support rendered during the time of preparations for his consecration and installation as Bishop of Kotido diocese early January 2023.

He asked Christians to continue praying for him and the success of his Episcopal Ministry among the people of God in Kotido diocese who are entrusted to his watchful care as Shepherd.

Shortly after the Eucharistic celebration, the Bishop proceeded to bless the street children who had earlier thronged at Uganda Martyrs Ordinations Ground Lira with the view to meet and greet the bishop before leaving for Kotido.
