The Catholic Bishops under the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) have endorsed St Joseph, the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as patron saint of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO).

In a statement signed by ECM General Secretary Rev. Fr. Alfred Chaima, during their plena held toward the end of January this year, the conference gave a nod to the Patron Saint that was proposed.

“The Bishops have endorsed that St Joseph the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, be the patron saint of CMO,” reads part of the statement.

The statement further disclosed that CMO is scheduled to hold the first national commemoration at Ntcheu Catholic Parish, Diocese of Dedza, on 18th March 2023 where they will have Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. John Chithonje, Vicar General of the Diocese of Dedza.

The Bishops have also disclosed that they will continue to ensure suitable spiritual development of the members across the country.

During their June plenary, the Bishops gave a nod to the existence of CMO in the country.

CMO is among the groupings in the Catholic Church in Malawi that strives to be instrumental in gathering all men together for their active participation in the Church.
