UGANDA: Bishop Sabino Ochan Odoki Appeals to Parishes to Invest in ICT Development

The Bishop of Arua Diocese in Uganda has expressed the need for parishes and institutions to invest in internet connectivity in a bid to create access to information which is key to human progress and development.
He made the revelation in an interview with AMECEA Online correspondent on Thursday 19th January 2023, observing that at the moment there is need for parishes and institutions to embrace digital development in a bid to move to the next level.
Bishop Sabino Odoki emphasized that if such internet systems are installed in all the parishes and Church institutions, they will improve communications and enable the public to appreciate development and the changes that are taking place in the Church and in the world.
He observed that many parishes and institutions within the Church are missing relevant information because they are do not have access to internet connection.
Rt. Rev. Odoki further highlighted the significance of having the internet systems installed in parishes in terms of creating access to information, evangelization, increasing the standards of research and innovation in the institutions of learning, health facilities and social centers that are within the church.
In his remarks, he mentioned that it is significant to have projects through the people of good will with particular focus on initiating and revamping the internet systems in order to empower parishes to access information being published on different web sites citing AMECEA.
He commended AMECEA team working to update the region and the entire church with relevant information thus creating significant impact in the lives of the people.
“I want to thank AMECEA team for keeping us updated through the weekly bulletins, now we need to find a way of making people know about AMECEA bulletins”, said Bishop Sabino.
Bishop Sabino further implored parishes and institutions to emulate a faith-based organization known as Battery Operated Systems for Community Outreach Uganda (BOSCO-U) operating to connect communities, building strong network of collaboration among the rural communities, institutions in Northern Uganda.
Although in difficult economic situation, currently different social media platforms are being used as effective tools for access to information, evangelization, promoting e-learning for learners in different levels of learning institutions across the globe.
Similarly, government of the Republic of Uganda during the Corona virus pandemic (Covid-19) lockdowns had been promoting the e-learning programs for learners at the moment when all learning institutions were closed.
