UGANDA: Bishop Dominic Eibu Installed as Third Bishop of Kotido Diocese

It was all joy and excitement in Kotido Diocese on the occasion of the consecration and installation of Rt Rev Dominic Eibu on 14th January 2023, in Kotido Municipality.
On the occasion of the consecration of the new bishop, the Christians, the priests and the Religious expressed gratitude to God for the gift of the new bishop Rt Rev Dominic Eibu who is well versed in the ecclesiastical affairs of the Diocese including the local language and culture of the people respectively.
The consecration and installation of the third bishop of Kotido Rt. Rev. Dominic Eibu was presided over by Most Rev. Emmanuel Obbo (AJ) the Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese.
Archbishop Obbo during his homily disclosed that the installation of Bishop Eibu is a great gift and a blessing to the people of Kotido.
He therefore asked the congregation to unite in praying for the success of the episcopal ministry of the new bishop and the progress of people and the Diocese of Kotido.
Archbishop Obbo went on saying that the installation of Bishop Eibu is timely to the fact that his pastoral ministry should focus on human transformation in Kotido and Karamoja at large.
He commended the new bishop for his unique virtues of humility and love for the poor, noting that it will be the source of consolation and comfort to his flock.
Meanwhile, Rt. Rev. Joseph Antony Zziwa the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) congratulated the new Bishop of Kotido upon the canonical possession of the Diocese and prayed for the success of his episcopal ministry.
Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa who is the Ordinary for Kiyinda Mityana Diocese reminded the new Bishop that after taking canonical possession of the diocese, much awaits him as he made reference to the letter of Saint Paul to the elders of Ephesus where he prepares them to face the pastoral challenges, knowing that the Lord will always be at their side as they bear witness to the truth.
Even in the face of challenges, Bishop Zziwa encouraged the new Bishop to dispense his pastoral ministry with love, care, providing opportunity in a move to bring comfort and consolation to the people of God.
The President of Uganda Episcopal Conference further said that as Catholic Bishops of Uganda, they are grateful to the late Archbishop Kiwanuka Denis Lote the first Bishop of Kotido and to Bishop Giuseppe Filippi, for their contributions towards educational, pastoral, health and social services to the people of Kotido.
The ceremony was on Saturday 14th January 2023 graced by the presence of the Papal Nuncio to Uganda His Excellency Luigi Bianco, Catholic Bishops under their umbrella body of Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), the priests, Religious and other guests.
Other notable dignitaries who graced the occasion included the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda Her Excellency Jessica Alupo who represented the Head of State, government officials, cultural leaders and members of the Civil Society Organizations working in Karamoja sub -region.
Kotido Diocese is located in North Eastern Uganda bordering Kenya in the East and the Republic of South Sudan in the North.
