UGANDA: Joy and Excitement in Kotido Diocese as Bishop -elect is Received

Preparations are in final stages in Kotido Diocese in view of the episcopal consecration and installation of their new bishop Monsignor Dominic Eibu (MCCJ) on 14th January 2023, at Good Shepherd Cathedral in Kotido Municipality.
Rev Fr. Samuel Lotuk, the Chairperson of the Central Organizing committee in an interview with AMECEA online correspondent on Friday 13th January 2023 said all is set especially the choir members are ready to animate the liturgy of the day.
He mentioned that the Bishop-elect was on Thursday 12th January well received by Christians in the Diocese with excitement and joy as they prepare for the consecration and installation on Saturday 14th January 2023.
So far, Fr Lotuk said, a number of guests from Soroti Diocese the ancestral home of the bishop- elect and those from other dioceses in the country have arrived in Kotido only waiting to witness the consecration and installation of the new bishop.
He further disclosed that the Christians are happy as the diocese receives the new bishop who will discharge his pastoral ministry among his flock in Kotido diocese.
According to Fr. Lotuk, the episcopal consecration of the bishop of Kotido will be presided over by the Most Rev Emmanuel Obbo (AJ) of Tororo Archdiocese.
He further revealed that the celebration will also be graced by the presence of the Papal Nuncio to Uganda His Excellency Luigi Bianco, the Catholic Bishops under their umbrella body of Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), the priests, religious and other guests expected to grace the event.
Other dignitaries to grace the occasion include the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda Her Excellency Jessica Alupo who will represent the head of State, government officials, cultural leaders and members of the Civil Society Organizations working in Karamoja sub -region.
Rt. Rev Dominic Eibu (MCCJ) will become the third Bishop of Kotido Diocese which is located in North Eastern Uganda bordering Kenya in the East and the Republic of South Sudan in the North.
